Session 1: (9:00 am - 9:30 am)
Circle Time:
Circle time is a time for important social interaction. It helps develop positive relationships amongst children through a number of engaging and fun activities and routine. Most importantly, it is the most opportunistic moment to introduce lessons as well as set the structure for the day. During our circle time, we will have a daily focus that includes letters, numbers, shapes, and colors. Some of the benefits of circle time include:
-
Socialization
-
Good practice of routine
-
Improved listening skills
-
Readiness for school
-
Improved fine and gross motor skills

Session 2: (9:45 am - 10:15 am)
Movin' to the Groove:
Movin’ to the groove is a physical activity program that encourages the integration of physical activities into daily instruction. When students have the ability to move freely throughout the course of the day, it can encourage better academic results, longer attention spans, and overall healthier living.
Session 3: (10:30 am - 11:00 am)
Small Group Centers:
Small group activities allow time for emphasis to be placed on a number of different fine and gross motor skills while incorporating literacy and mathematics as the core of the activity. In this section, we will be taking a number of fun activities while putting major emphasis on developing core mathematics and literacy content that was introduced during our circle tome. Some of the benefits of small group instruction include:
-
Interaction
-
Observation
-
Interest and support
-
Developmental growth

Who am I?
I am Mrs. Cesar and I am currently a pre-kindergarten teacher. I have a 2-year-old son affectionately known as CJ. I am married to my high school sweetheart, Samuel. I enjoy singing, reading, and I love sitcoms and a great movie! I have been in childcare and education for the last 10 years.
I began working with babies, toddlers, and preschoolers in private nurseries and daycares before moving into public education as an early childhood teacher. Since obtaining my Master’s Degrees in General and Special Education, I’ve had the opportunity to also work with grades Kindergarten through second grade. As time progresses, I’m having so much fun teaching, and truly love watching my students have fun learning!
Why #MizzCeezahsPreKClassroom ?
I am very passionate about children learning through play and that is ONE of the of the driving forces behind this blog. When children play, they are happy and they learn at their OWN pace. I also believe that there is a disconnect between learning through play and getting ready for Kindergarten. It will cause the child become frustrated, unmotivated, and very uninspired to learn.
As educators, and even as parents, it’s important to find ways to make connections in order to teach content in a way that children can be receptive so that they can head toward success. Pre-Kindergarten students shouldn’t be siting at a desk for hours at a time during the day. While children are exploring the world around them, let’s make some tangible connections! Get them out of their seats to play, but make literacy and math connections that can enhance their learning. There’s no right or wrong way of making those connections, but we can have fun discovering what works best for our children. Ms. Frizzle said it best: “Take a chance…make mistakes…get MESSY!”
